Accounting

Job Description

The goal of the accounting department is to provide all stakeholders with useful information about the company. Accountants collect and analyze all financial records of the company and provide the information in a clear, accurate and transparent manner so that stakeholders can make correct decisions about the company. In addition, management uses the accounting information internally to formulate business policies, strategies and investments for the future.

Job Qualification

All accounting positions require a bachelor’s degree or higher from a four-year university. A major in commerce is useful and persons with knowledge in accounting and tax-related areas have an advantage. Accounting involves accurate calculation of financial figures, so strong math skills and a deep sense of responsibility and scrupulousness are very important.

Financial Support

Job Function

The Financial Support Department sums up incomes and expenses from a plant to prepare manufacturing cost statements, profit and loss statements, statements of changes in financial position, profit and loss estimation by department, and cost estimation by product for the plant and administrative operation to quantify all data generated from the business department and assist stakeholders in identifying and improving the current state and also provide data necessary for decision making for the future where business planning, cost reduction, CM management, inventory management and scrap management operations are conducted. In addition, the Financial Support Department handles budgeting, taxes and payments of bills.

Job Qualification

A position in financial support requires persons having a bachelor’s degree or higher from a four-year university. A major in commerce is especially useful. Persons working in the field of financial support are required to be meticulously accurate, punctual in handing their responsibilities and also have a basic knowledge of bookkeeping.
Performing as a bridge connecting the marketing and production departments, the Financial Support Department must maintain successful cooperation with the accounting department. Therefore, interpersonal relationship and communication skills are important.

Funding

Job Description

Fund-related operations
The core tasks of funding operation are aimed at maximizing the values of the company, such as establishing and executing financial plans, to assessing the financial performance of the company, and maintaining appropriate liquidity while establishing and managing funding strategies according to economic conditions and financial market situations. For this, the Funding Department carries out funding operations, supports the investment decision making process, assesses credit ratings, manages savings/ installment savings accounts and handles IR and shares management operations.

Job Qualification

A position in the Funding Department requires persons having a bachelor’s degree or higher from a four-year university, preferably with a major in commerce. However, those without a major in commerce can also apply as long as they demonstrate personal drive and passion. Funding operations, which supply and manage funds for the company, require expertise and a deep sense of ethics.

Purchasing

Job Description

The Purchasing Department manages all purchases and derivative operations (expediting, cost comparisons etc.) within the company. In other words, it involves purchasing of raw and auxiliary materials, future trading for the related products and customs refunds for exports from the Overseas Sales & Marketing Department. While purchasing in the past focused mainly on administrative tasks, such as demand and supply management, purchasing in recent times also requires development of cost reduction strategies through strategic purchase management (through CPM), improvement of global outsourcing abilities and systematic decision making.

Job Qualification

A position in purchasing requires a bachelor’s degree from a four-year university. A major in commerce or economics is most helpful, but those without a major in these fields can also apply for a position as long as they demonstrate personal drive and passion.

IT Planning

Job Description

IT Planning is the department where IT governance and IS (information system) management are carried out for the purpose of fulfilling the company’s management vision and goals. Key operations of the IT planning department are largely divided into [1] planning, such as mid-to-long-term information strategy establishment, and [2] digitalization support management. Information strategy operation is to review the IT promotion strategy and IS technology analysis/ introduction, and thus support IT functions to effectively produce results through a link with the company’s vision and goals. In addition, the IT Department supports successful performance of all employees by operating the IT organization, managing IS development, purchasing and maintenance, protecting information assets and managing information system and digitalization concerning business sustainability and risk control.

Job Qualification

In general, persons applying for a position in IT Planning are required to have a bachelor’s degree or higher from a four-year university with a major in computer engineering or an IT field. However, those without a major in these fields can also apply for a position as long as they have IT-related licenses together with an interest in and passion for the job. Interpersonal skills are very important as the IT department carries out operations through cooperation with various departments within the company.

Internal Auditing & Consulting

Job Description

The Internal Auditing and Consulting Department carries out operations to inspect and improve the company’s internal efficiency and adherence to ethics. Key operations include internal consulting to correct defects in and improve efficiency of company operation from an objective point of view, and credit management to assess the credit rating and accounts receivable of customers in order to minimize credit risks in commercial trading. The internal auditing and consulting department also supervises ethical management so that the company can fulfill its responsibilities for all stakeholders, such as customers, shareholders and employees, through clean and transparent management.

Job Qualification

Persons with a bachelor’s degree or higher from a four-year university with a major in commerce or law are the best suited for a position in the Internal Auditing and Consulting Department, however anyone with drive and passion can also apply. Because auditing and consulting is closely linked with various other departments, good interpersonal skills, a cooperative mindset and a high appreciation for ethics are required.

General Affairs

Job Description

The General Affairs Department supervises and manages the company’s overall operations such as asset management (real estate properties, vehicles, facilities, equipment etc.), handles planning and implementation of internal and external events, overseas employees’ welfare and benefits, and implements emergency management in preparation for fire or other natural disasters. The General Affairs Department also manages outside customers and suppliers, and supports the head office and employees working in local areas. Recently, trademark and document security management has emerged as an important task of general affairs. In case of a plant, the General Affairs Department is also in charge of human resources and cost management as well as plant environment and safety management.

Job Qualification

Persons with a bachelor’s degree in commerce or law from a four-year university or with a major in other humanities including language can apply for a position in the General Affairs Department. The General Affairs Department characteristically requires persons who have drive, interpersonal skills and communicative abilities rather than placing an emphasis on knowledge in the fields of the major. In addition, comprehensive thinking and prompt decision-making abilities are essential.

Environment Safety

Job Description

The Environment Safety Department aims at ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations relating to the environment, safety, health, firefighting and energy management within a plant. Key operations include waste/discharge management, preventative maintenance (safety/firefighting equipment inspections), industrial accident management, gas management, and health checkup management. The Environment Safety Department plays an important role in establishing a pleasant worksite and protecting workers.

Job Qualification

Persons with a bachelor’s degree or higher in environmental engineering or industrial safety-related fields from a four-year university are quite well suited for this position. The Environment Safety Department requires a full understanding of the related laws and regulations and strong operational (practical) abilities, and places an emphasis on self-initiative and persuasion skills in its human resources.

Human Resources (HR) Management

Job Description

The mission of human resources is to secure and maintain the people necessary to fulfill the company’s goals. The HR department is largely divided into [1] recruitment, [2] HR management system design and planning (to support the employees, provide training etc.), [3] task assignment and scheduling (to assign employees to appropriate jobs, positions etc.) and [4] employees’ compensation and assessment. The role of the HR department is to create an environment in which the company’s management activities can be performed successfully by supporting the company’s strategic goals and working closely with each department.

Job Qualification

Persons with a bachelor’s degree or higher from a four-year university can apply for a position in the HR Department. The required majors vary according to detailed job descriptions, but a degree in commerce or law is most useful. However, those without such a major can apply for a position as long as they have drive and passion. The HR department, which works in link with various departments, requires persons with strong interpersonal skills and a cooperative mindset.

Labor Affairs

Job Description

The Labor Affairs Department handles activities to achieve and maintain a successful and productive labor–management relationship, which exerts a direct impact on the company’s operational environment. It handles operations concerning workers’ individual relationship management, group relationship management and various labor-related laws. To support the fulfillment of the company’s strategic goals, the Labor Affairs Department works face-to-face with workers, and thus contributes to efficient fulfillment of the company’s goals.

Job Qualification

Persons with a bachelor’s degree or higher from a four-year university majoring in commerce or law are best suited. As for individual competencies, strong interpersonal and negotiation skills are necessary.

Training (Human Resources Development)

Job Description

The Training Department handles activities to control changes in link with the company’s strategic goals in order to improve the competencies of individual members to improve the organization as a whole. The operations are largely divided into [1] organization development, [2] system design for fostering of organization members and their career management, and [3] planning and execution of the required educational curricula. In order to support the company’s strategic goals, the Training Department aims at leading changes in the organization, improving workers’ competencies, and thus contributing to the results of the company.

Job Qualification

Persons with a bachelor’s degree in commerce, psychology or engineering education from a four-year university are best suited for this job. As for individual competencies, strong planning and execution abilities as well as interpersonal skills are necessary.
